Christ Church Marienbad

This small Anglican church is built from red hard-burnt bricks without stucco, which reminds typical buildings of English rural churches. Interior of Romanesque-Neogothic style is work by architect William Burghes. Inspiration for eight-part rose window and pointed windows came from english gothic style. Atmosphere of this amazing place intensifies full-grown alley, what is named after its benefactor – lady Ann Scott of Rodono. She wanted to honour remembrance of her deceased husband.

From the very beginning architecture of the church and itself being has come across a little bizarrely, because  Anglican Church had no believers in these latitudes. But this church was of great importance for Marienbad, when the English king Edward VII visited it. Because beside other things thanks to existence of it, Marienbad became kings favourite holiday destination. In commemoration of Edward VII´s frequent visits was made marble memorial plaque from 1911, what is one of a few preserved original decoration.

Currently is Anglican church in use as an exhibition area and concert hall with special, almost medieval, atmosphere, what can go back in time – to the age of king Arthur. This amazing and once-in-a-lifetime genius loci is favourite place for wedding too.
