Motive for build the synagogue was the same as for many other religious buildings – spa visitors. Thanks to generous contribution from rich spa visitors and inhabitants of Marienbad can local Jewish community for the first time build hospital with kosher dining hall and small chapel (nowadays house N.102). In less than fifty years was built the reverend synagogue according to drawing of architect Eduard Stern.

If you would like to honor the memory of Jewish population of Marienbad, you can do it through the placing stone on the memorial, what symbolizes tombstone.

You can visit Jewish cemetery too. It is hidden in wood close to the road to Velká Hleďsebe. It is one of the youngest Jewesh cemetery in region (found 1875), but here we can find many importmant old tombstones, which were moved here from older ruined cemeteries of region. So many eminent persons are buried just here; for example Theodor Lessing, Jewish philosopher and anti-fascist, murdered in 1933 in Villa Edellweis in Marienbad.
