Olbram Zoubek in Marienbad

Olbram Zoubek is one of the most important Czech contemporary sculptors and designers and probably the most famous Czech sculptor of whole the 20’s century. His artworks are decorating many of important buildings and memorials, but are also a part of Czech modern history – among others there are the examples of the famous Jan Palach bust and the tomb of the Havel family.

Olbram Zoubek spent a long time in Marienbad, so fortunately the town can boast not with the one only – but even with three of his artworks. The most famous is the Scupture of Three Graces, located nearby the Music Pavilion in the Park around the Forest Spring. A typical Zoubek’s manuscript is perceptible also on sculptures decorating the attic of the Butterfly hotel, located right on the Main Street. The last piece is kind of a hidden gem. Go inside the Cross Pavilion on the Collonade and find a rounded seepage. Lean on the forged railings – and you’re already touching the artwork designed by Olbram Zoubek and his wife Eva Kmentová.
