1. Marienbad is one of the smallest towns in the world, which use trolleybus system as a public transportation.
2. Using public transport in Marienbad is kind of an eco-tourism. Many times in history it was considered to replace the trolleybuses with some another type of vehicle with less demading maintenance, but fortunately it was a question of ecology, what finally won, and over time trolleybuses became one of symbols of local green policy.
3. Trolleybuses are used since 1952, previously there was a tram line leading from the railway station to the town centre.
4. Because it’s not economic to expand trolley tracks anymore, fleet is complemented by special bus hybrids, which help to keep both the economy and ecology.
5. You can find also special cableway in Marienbad, which is operating between the town and top of the Krakonoš hill, the popular leisure place with many attractions. The cableway is the oldest operated cabin cableway in Czech Republic.
